Marc Stein is reporting tonight that instead of Stackhouse, the Mavs will send Hassell, and instead of George, the Mavs will send Keith Van Horn, who will get paid millions to show up and get cut and the deal for Kidd is back on.

I know most fans are against this trade, and I like Harris, but he is not Jason Kidd, he isn't even a 35 year old Kidd, and never will be. Kidd is a far superior passer, rebounder, and more importantly, a veteran who desperately wants a ring and will be a leader. Harris is quicker than Kidd, and will have many highlight reel dunks in the years to come, but if the Mavs have a chance to upgrade that position in this way for the next two years, it is a good trade. Go for it.

I'm excited for this. I have been a Mavs fan since they were the worst team in the league and I'm happy that we are competitive and contenders, but I want to see them win a championship. This trade gives them the best chance of that.

I want to see it happen because I agree with Evan - they won't win a championship with the current group. Do they want to be the Jazz/Bills of the 90's or do they want to leave a season champs? The only gamble here is exiting the playoffs sans trophy like every other year. Harris gets better every year, but by the time he reaches his pinnacle how old will Dirk be?
