Houston is currently 5-3

Probable starters:

Mason (6-0, Jr)
Taylor (6-0, Jr)
Scott (5-6, Jr)
Button (5-9, So)
Johnson (5-6, Jr)

They have an Ohio State transfer (Mason, 6-0 Jr) that sees heavy minutes, don't see that the freshman get much time though.

I would go with the same game plan as SMU

Which BJ shows up, rebounds, make free throws... attack - attack - attack...

I'm assuming this team is very fast based on the size of the starting line-up. I think size-wise we have the advantage, but maturity and chemistry is in Houston's favor.

I think I heard somewhere that www.kntu.com will be there...

If not radio broadcast on UHCougars.com
They also have gametracker & you can watch on CSTV.

I'm sure Steven will be there to broadcast the game for KNTU because he'll be producing the Men's game earlier in the day up the road at Rice.

I've been doing some research (see newest thread) and not to question SS on her coaching but this latest loss - poses this query (with all due respect).

1. You never know which BJ is going to show up
2. Kellum, when she has the ball in her hand has proven to be better (and more consistent threat)
3. What is the loyalty to the seniors on the team - they are not helping you win games.
4. How many more double digit losses do we have to endure before you change your starters?
5. What type of workouts are happening to work on the defensive sets?

The "why" of this is... The team is now 3-6. I'm not really sure it could get any worse than it is now. Your loyalty to starting the seniors (or giving them major minutes) and they do not show up - night in & night out is helping you lose games. BJ took 24 shots the other night and made 8. Kellum touched the ball 4 times. Godbolt, who is averaging over 50% from the field should not just be getting "clean-up" points (she had 7 offensive boards against SMU). Timms had 1 point (in 25 minutes).

I understand we are lacking at 2 key positions but, are you going to ride the backs of these players that don't produce consistently? When are you going to give your new recruits some substantial playing time to make sure they are court ready for next year when all that's left is your recruits (1 Slinker left over). They can't do any worse than what you're doing now - seriously.

What frustrated me most (besides the lack of defense) against Houston, was allowing BJ to bring the ball up court and allowing her to jack up 24 shots. She is not making her teammates better and her selfishness kept the ball out of (arguably) your best scorer's hands. The lack of chemistry was the worst I have seen (heard), yet! Brown, who seems to be a little quiet... is much more consistent on the floor and her shooting percentage warrants more playing time.

I saw the Mean Green Insider last Thursday - during the interview it was mentioned that playing time is based on practice time - I would think it is much easier to beat up on your teammates than it is to show up against other teams... so maybe game assessments are in order.

What would be unfortunate is for some of these recruits to explore other options, because of SS loyalty to players that are not getting it done. Let your recruits take their lumps and learn from game-time experience. They all come from winning schools - they will find a way to win.

(I have stepped off the box)

In stepping away - for the record, I am still a SS fan...

I just hope she sees things from an objective standpoint and lets go of the "I need seniors to win" mentality. I watched Tennessee WBB last night (they don't have any seniors on the team), beat the snot out of a Texas team that whipped us by 40+... TN had one of their worst seasons last year in the history of the program, but Pat Summit (1 of the best coaches in all of college coaching) - stuck with her fresh/sophs last year and has quickly recovered from a horrible year (post Candace).

I am sorry but accusing SS of loyalty to Slinker's players is actually funny.
