So Shanice Stephens who helped Clemson to a 12-19 record last season...wowed the search committee?
Shit, if that was their record...she shouldn't have been brought in. (I'm sure, btw, that we pay the airfare and lodging..if we bring them in, right?)
There's a great candidate in Mesquite. She's been to two NCAA tournaments (one more than our school has).
But she's middle-aged.
And she's white.
Plus, she's not even a lesbian. (Not that any of the others are).
That is so B-O-R-I-N-G.
If we hire Stephens over Capps or Schaefer...that is really stupid, IMHO. And how you can interview Larkin and not Brock or Tidwell is beyond me.

Pardon me for not doing my homework on the women coach candidates, but does Stephens have any connections for recruiting in Texas? Shouldn't that be requisite #1?

She was an assistant at Rice for 7 years...but has been away from the state for 3 years.
On the other hand, Schaefer and Capps are in Texas. Right Now.
I'm not trying to sound bitter, but if you had seen UNT f up as many hirings as I have in my 50+ years....you'd be suspicious that they'll f this one up, TOO.

Apparently she's a good recuiter. And she's attractive.
That's all I got. I want Capps.

Well if your record disqualifies you from getting an interview, I will never get one again.
I have no idea about this situation at NT, and my interest in learning about it is minimal, but there are other factors that go into a team's record than the aptitude of the coach. This is less true at the college level than the high school (since they essentially pick their own p_layer_s), but some of it is still there.
Also, some coaches are an amazing fit at one place, and the opposite at another. It is up to the AD to review each candidate and determine how they would fit at NT, taking everything into account.

Well that may be true. But how often, in college...do you see schools (at the same level) hiring away an assistant from a team with a losing record? (With the premise that said assistant is going to be the head coach).
In RV...some trust. Not me.
