Obviously ULL and ULM are good enough to defeat us(Cajuns even did so). MTSU also defeated us. That said, I kinda like the way the bracket sets up for us to potentially reach the Final. I love that we don't have WKU until the Championship Round.

That's all I could really ask for at the beginning of the season.

I agree. If I took a look at all the 1st rd matchups before they announced the 1 - 3 seed , I would have choose to play the ulm/ull winner.
That wku vs ark state game in the 2nd rd should be the best game of that day.

I think we will see :

Troy vs USA
WKU vs ASU
MTSU vs FIU
UNT vs ULL

Now that I'm cooling off about the tiebreaker screw job, I agree that you almost couldn't design a better bracket to get us to the finals with minimal risk.

MTSU and ULL are the only teams to beat us this year. ULL can't win away from Lafayette, and they're drowning from injuries and maybe the suspensions (if they continue to/through the tourney). Middle hasn't beaten us away from the Murphy Center in something like 4 or 5 years... I think we have 3 tournament wins over them in a row and they haven't beaten us at the Pit since 2005 or 2006.

I still contend that if MTSU couldn't beat us last year with Yates and Kanaskie (and what I think wasn't as good a team as what we've got going right now), they aren't going to do it this year with an injured Yates and an inferior supporting cast.

Plus, whoever gets through the minefield in the top half will probably be worn down from playing through all those dangerous teams. Western, ASU, FAU/USA... Honestly, I'll be amazed if Troy makes the finals. I wouldn't even be surprised to see them go one-and-done. I fully expect that whoever makes the final from our half will play a team that came in without the benefit of a bye.

It's still a risky situation, but it's about as low-risk as could possibly be designed.

You're right... We each won at each other's courts last year.

Dumb mistake. I should have looked it up.

We do have a nice neutral site run going against them, though.

I think Troy having the security blanket of a guaranteed spot in the NIT is actually a advantage for whomever plays them. I don't think they get past wKu , but if they do and face us in the final we play them with nothing to lose while they play knowing no matter what they will be in the post season. If we play wku in the final , they will be playing their 4th game in as many days.

I woulnd't be shocked if FIU gets past both Denver & MTSU
