Vitos blog make it sound as if we are content to stay put where we are. What do you guys think of that. I was wanting a center in this group, but I suppose a pwoer forward will have to do (Ok, Knox is a center, but his numbers don't lead me to believe he can contribute).

I suppose it's better to sit on one than waste a scholarship on a project.

Kind of peculiar, seem to be getting different stories. First, NT had offered and now they are going to save their last scholarship. Apparently, those two recruits that were mentioned as possibilities were not deemed good enough to offer. It is amazing that fans can get so fired up over possible recruits that were borderline at best. This happened a lot in DD football recruiting. A name of potential recruit would be floated and fans would be excited when he finally committed. Never-mind, that he had no other offers and was at best a stretch at the 1A level.
Based on recruiting so far, I would give this class at best a C. A definite project out of high school and two junior college players who at least fulfill big gaps on the team. The point guard did not appear to be highly recruited but if he can break the press, he will be well worth the scholarship. I still don't understand how last years team full of capable guards had so much trouble when being pressed. The jewel of the class on paper is definite Tramiel(sp)and hopefully he can be an upgrade over Quincy Williams at the 4 spot.

I agree with Grand...this class is a "C" grade, at best. Just a year after a NCAA tourney appearance, we sure seemed to have pissed all that momentum away.
Personally, I'd like for us to use that other scholarship. Every year, under JJ...it seems that we are lacking in big men. And, it's such, that if our good big men (usually we have two).....get hurt or in foul trouble, we're screwed.

I don't think you can ever really grade a class until they've played for a year or two. It LOOKS like a C, but we'll see.

You are absolutely right, but that kind of limits discussion. I don't think you will get a lot of interest in rating the 2003 class now.
